Latest COVID-19 Policy Update:
March 4, 2022
Effective immediately, we will no longer enforce a mask mandate for visitors or employees of Fire Island National Seashore. Per the updated DOI and NPS guidance, coupled with Suffolk County’s current CDC COVID Community Level of Low, individuals are no longer required to wear masks indoors in our facilities. We will monitor the county level data on Fridays to determine if we need to adjust safety protocols for the following week.
Individuals may continue to voluntarily wear masks. Please show respect and acceptance of individual choices and levels of comfort in light of the rapidly evolving changes.
Please also continue to follow other guidance, such as monitoring yourselves for COVID-19 symptoms and the NPS business visitor attestation requirement.
Thank you for your continued efforts and cooperation.
Lindsey Kurnath
Acting Superintendent
Fire Island National Seashore

Pets are not allowed on Watch Hill & Otis Pike Wilderness ocean beaches from March 15 to Labor Day but are permitted elsewhere throughout Watch Hill including the marina, campground, the bay beaches and nature trails. Pets are not permitted in any sanitary facilities (including showers). Pets must be leashed, under control and are not to be left unattended. There are two dog rest areas, one on each side of the marina. It is the owners responsibility to remove and dispose of pet’s waste.
